Gravel Driveways
Classic, affordable, and naturally permeable
About Gravel Driveways
Gravel driveways have been used for centuries and remain one of the most popular choices for long driveways, rural properties, and front gardens where a natural look is desired. Modern installations use a geotextile membrane under the gravel to suppress weeds and prevent the stone from sinking into the ground.
We install loose gravel drives using self-binding gravel, standard decorative gravel, and golden gravel in depths of 50–75mm over a compacted sub-base and membrane. Edging is installed in timber, steel, or block paving to contain the stone. A gravel driveway is also 100% permeable, making it the easiest surface to comply with SuDS drainage regulations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will gravel spread onto the road?
With proper edging and a depth of 50–75mm, gravel migration is minimal. We can also use a stabilising grid system to lock the stones in place.
Do gravel driveways need maintenance?
Occasional raking and topping up every few years is all that is needed. The geotextile membrane minimises weeds.
Can I have gravel over an existing driveway?
In many cases yes — we can assess your existing surface and advise on the best approach.
